Mitch King

AUSTRALIAN FOLKY BLUES & ROOTS

Born and raised on the Gold Coast, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Mitch King spends his days travelling around Australia in his campervan, playing his music at shows and festivals across the country.

He first started playing guitar at the age of 14, spending hours in his bedroom playing music, honing his skills and listening to artists like John Mayer, Jimmy Hendrix and Santana.

In 2014, Mitch independently released his first album, A Life Under The Sun. The single ‘Coming Back’ reached new heights when it was picked up by the US football team the Green Bay Packers. The song has since had over 20 million streams on US Pandora radio.

Mitch then released an EP, Southerly Change in 2016.  It went straight to the top of the blues chart, where it remained for 10 days straight. More recently he’s had success with a bunch of single releases with his single “Burning” amassing nearly 3 million Spotify streams.

Mitch has graced festival stages the likes of the Tamworth Country Music Festival, St Kilda Festival and Blues on Broadbeach, and supported artists such as Tones And I, America The Band, and Supertramp’s Roger Hodgson.

In January 2021 Mitch announced his signing to Michael Gudinski’s newest label, Reclusive Records. Simultaneously he released his newest single ‘Oil & Water’, which was co-written with Mark Lizotte (aka Diesel).

Organically building his fanbase to over 36 million worldwide, Mitch is renowned for his live dynamic performances, blending vocals with electric and acoustic guitars, harmonica, kick drum and tambourine to create his unique Australian folky blues n roots sound.

“Mitch King is an absolute explosion of talent, with fingertips of steel and vocal pipes of a howling steam train...Unbelievably spell binding to watch, this salty blonde blueshound is definitely one to keep your eye on.”

CELLO & FLUTE

Wright Girls Image.jpg

Meet Izzy and Sammy Wright. Izzy plays the cello and has been playing for 6 years, since year 3 at Mansfield Steiner School.  She doesn't like doing scales, but does love Yo Yo Ma!

Sammy has been playing the flute for 2 years, after playing the violin since prep up to year 5.  Sammy prefers the flute because she thinks the 'e' string is too squeaky on the violin, plus it's smaller and easy to carry, unlike Izzy's cello!

Charlie Dobson

GUITARIST

Archie Dunn is a local lad from Merrijig who loves singing and playing guitar. He has a wide taste in music playing blues, pop, country and more.

While Doc Wallace won't be joining us in song, we are very grateful for his role as MC and taking care of Sound & Lighting. A little info about Doc...

He first appeared on Channel 9's Tarax Show when he was 13. After competing in Local and National Finals of New Faces, his original music shared an Erik Award for the best professional production of 1969. He later wrote and produced a number of musicals including The Second Flaw, A Matter of Compromise, Back to the Wall, Emergence and Prop and Cop. While living in the UK he was asked to open for Procol Harum's Gary Brooker in London in 2007, and continued to play around the UK professional and festival scene til returning to Australia in 2017.

His songs have been finalists in the UK Songwriting Competition over the last several years, and he continues collaborations with other writers in Australia and the UK. One of his 1977 albums is due for re-release on vinyl in the USA in the near future after all albums sold out internationally.

These days he plays a rough mix of classic 60s-80s in a number of formats and likes to describe some of the material as 'bent covers'! While he doesn't play much percussion these days, he still can manage to remember the words of some of these classic pop tunes on keys and guitar. He may even be tempted to do one of his originals...
